Apart from being waterproof and shockproof, the Golf Buddy also features a screen that is far above what you would normally see in golf GPS. One of the best features in the World Platinum is that it takes advantage of this resolution to display the distance to each hazard on the course on the main course display at all times. Battery Life?

For such a powerful unit, the battery life is pretty good, with 10 hours available from one charge – certainly enough for one round or two rounds. If you are going on a golf marathon then you can always buy an additional battery – just open the back cover with a coin and you can easily change it. One downside to the modern equipment however is that it takes around 4 hours to recharge, so you won’t be able to fully charge it in the clubhouse.

Performance

The Gold Buddy World Platinum works really well and the course are being updated all the time. It is smart enough to know what course you are playing on when you turn it on, and it normally takes a couple of minutes to acquire your location from being turned on from cold, and then can switch in and out of standby so that you can quickly tell where you are with a quick glance. The ProPlay scoring system built in is handy too, and lets you keep up to 4 simultaneous scores while playing. It is well thought out and useful.

Overall

The World Platinum GPS manages to get noticed in a tough market with a wealth of features, good looks, and a great user interface. This is quite a flexible GPS, with all the courses being editable on the fly while in use in case any features have changed recently. When you add up the subscription fees of other golf GPS systems, the Golf Buddy World Platinum is great value too. Functional, sleek, and well designed, the World Platinum has it all.
